Insulting to Delta Force...

Deep Evil (2004) - DNF First hour 3.7 out of 10 stars, but took a dive to 1 star after that Time to Read: 1:45 min

BASIC PLOT:

In Alaska, there's been an incident. A top secret lab has been breached. Alien experiments are loose, and a team of scientists are escorting a platoon of Delta Force into the faculty, so they can retake it away from what's lurking inside.

WHAT WORKS:

Lorenzo Lamas as "Trainor"

*ACTING IS ABOVE AVERAGE I was surprised at how good the acting was for such a low budget TV film.

*THE STORY IS DECENT The first hour was an enjoyable, low budget watch.

*SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE DECENT For such a low budget movie, the first hour's special effects were more than believable, not original, but believable.

Ona Grauer as
"Dr. Susan Cole"

WHAT DOESN'T WORK/WHY I TURNED IT OFF:

*TRAINED TO WORK IN HOT ZONE means you never take off your suit, no matter what. These people are heavily trained, and wouldn't take off their suit, NO MATTER THE CAUSE! These problems could be fixed with some minor rewrites. Why not have the suit be defective?

*DELTA FORCE WOULD NEVER DISOBEY ORDERS, EVER! Anyone who knows anything about Delta Force knows they are the best our country has to offer. They don't get rattled! Not by watching their partner die, not by seeing aliens, nothing. They are the most squared away MF'ers out there, and they wouldn't do something stupid, like take off their haz-mat suit, because their partner got shot (so they could feel for a pulse). They wouldn't scream at their commanding officer to break quarantine, because one of the team was infected. If his Major Ross (Adam J. Harrington) ordered Trainor (Lorenzo Lamas) to kill his team mate, to stop the spread of infection, and save the population on the United States, he'd shoot her in the head! He wouldn't cry and scream and pound on a door! They've seen violence, they've seen their brothers in arms get killed, in terrible ways, right in front of them. None of that would make them fall apart in a combat zone. Again, this is easily fixed by having them be regular army. Alaska is remote, and this is a situation that requires IMMEDIATE attention. Maybe regular army is all you have to use, and they are not nearly as good or as disciplined as freaking Delta Force.

*WHY IS THE WOMAN ALWAYS THE F_CK UP? Why does it always have to be the woman who's the screw up? Captain O'Brien (Rachel Hayward) removes her haz-mat suit, and becomes hysterical, because her partner is shot. Believe me, any woman who made it into Delta Force, would not be soft.

*WATER ALIENS AREN'T ORIGINAL It's a direct rip off of The Abyss (1989), but at least the special effects were ok.

TO RECOMMEND, OR NOT TO RECOMMEND, THAT IS THE QUESTION:

*I can't recommend this movie. My suspension of disbelief dissolved at the hour mark, when people began behaving against their characters. The whole team became a bunch of mewling babies, crying for their mamas, when the fate is the world is at stake. That's insulting to every member of Delta Force, past and present. Just ask Chuck Norris (just kidding!)

Stupidest VHS Cover ever!

CLOSING NOTES:

*THIS IS A MADE-FOR-TV MOVIE, please keep that in mind before you watch/rate it. TV movies have a much lower budget, and so your expectations should be adjusted.

*I HAVE NO CONNECTION TO THE FILM, or production in ANY way. This review was NOT written in full, or in part, by a bot. I am just an honest viewer, who wishes for more straight forward reviews (less trolls and fanboys), and better entertainment. Hope I helped you out.
