The Fourth Deadly Sin 3 of 5 stars ⭐
By Sanders, Lawrence
Edward X. Delaney is a retired Chief of Detectives, whose greatest love is perusing Manhattan's delis, looking for sandwich ingredients. He retired because he was too good at his job, and kept getting promoted. He got three stars on his collar, and with them came political pressures he had no interest in. So, instead of police work, he began his quest for the perfect sandwich. That is, until one day his friend, First Deputy Commissioner Ivar Thorsen, stops by and asks for a favor. A prominent psychiatrist has been murdered, and in a gruesome way. Ivar needs his help, and soon. Delaney agrees, but only if he can choose his own team. Fans of the other Deadly Sins books, will be happy to see Officer Jason T. Jason and Sergeant Boone return as Delaney's investigators. They'll run down the alibis of the craziest of the murdered doctor's patients, but will the killer be among them?
This book doesn't reveal too much too soon, and so keeps the murderer concealed until the last few chapters. In my opinion, it is the best of the Deadly Sins series. You don't have to have read the other books in the series to enjoy this one. (I read this one first, and was disappointed in the others when I read them in order.)
