 Just a Bad Remake of a Good X-Files Episode...

SOLACE (2015) 3 out of 10 stars ⭐

BASIC PLOT: 

FBI psychic John Clancy (Anthony Hopkins) works to hunt down a psychic serial killer, Charles Ambrose (Colin Farrell).

WHAT WORKS: 

*THIS IS A REMAKE of an The X Files (1993) episode, Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose (1995), even the dialog is the same. The only problem? That was successful and hilarious, this is neither. 

*JEFFREY DEAN MORGAN HOLDS THIS MOVIE TOGETHER, and once he dies, it really goes off the rails.

WHAT DOESN'T WORK: 

*ABBIE CORNISH AS KATHERINE COWLES IS A FAIL. She is constantly angry, for NO REASON! She throws me out, and suspends my disbelief.

* NO PSYCHIC IS THIS ACCURATE. It's not believable he'd pick up on minutiae, so this is also bad.

*WEIRD STARING IS NOT ACTING, and unfortunately, Anthony Hopkins does this on his "just to get a paycheck" movies. The Human Stain (2003), was the last thing I saw him acting in, not phoning it in.

*PRETENTIOUSNESS FOR PRETENTIOUSNESS SAKE is an insult to the audience. All these quotes that are supposed to sound deep, are just ridiculous clap trap.

TO RECOMMEND, OR NOT TO RECOMMEND, THAT IS THE QUESTION: 

*I would not recommend this movie. It's a waste of many fine actors, and not worth the time spent watching it. However, after looking at the reviews, I would recommend to idiot fanboys, who worship Hannibal Lecter, and can't say anything bad about a movie he's in (and there's a lot of them).

*I HAVE NO CONNECTION TO THE FILM, or production in ANY way. I am just an honest viewer, who wishes for more straight forward reviews. Hope I helped you out.
