Lorenzo's Oil (1992) 8 of 10 stars ⭐
This is a true story of parents that would do anything to save their son from a fatal disease. This movie perfectly relates one family's tragedy, and triumph. In the end, their tenacity, bravery, and love does so much more than just help their own son. The work and sacrifice they put in, ends up saving thousands of boys with the same condition. It is a heart wrenching journey, that is very well acted by Susan Sarandon and Nick Nolte. Zack O'Malley Greenburg, who plays Lorenzo, also does a fantastic job, even though this is his one and only acting role. My only real criticism of this movie, is Nick Nolte's Italian accent. It could have been better, and is, at times, distracting. But that is a very small criticism, and should not dissuade you from seeing this film. It is a drama, but more than that, the story of a fight against the powers that be. Everyone says surrender is the only option, but these parents will not even consider stopping the crusade to save their son. I highly recommend this movie.
*I OWN THIS MOVE, IT'S THAT GOOD. A KEEPER, TO BE REWATCHED WHEN YOU'RE FEELING DOWN, OR OVERWHELMED WITH YOUR OWN LIFE.
